Explore the development of motion pictures
Developing technologies transformed the world in the early 20th century. There were new ways to travel, to communicate, and to be entertained. In the early 1900s, Pasadena residents flocked to movie theaters, including Clune’s, the Crown, the Strand, and Jensen’s. It was an exciting way to enjoy a new art form.
Join the Pasadena Museum of History (PMH) on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. as film historian and musicologist Galen Wilkes delves back in time to explore the development of motion pictures from silent films to the first talkies. He will also demonstrate equipment of the period and show rare and unique films and videos from his collection.
Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for the general public. Pre-paid reservations are required (tickets include admission to the exhibition “Starting Anew: Transforming Pasadena, 1890-1930”).
