Dec. 22
Shortly before 10:08 a.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect stole nearly $275 worth of merchandise before being apprehended by a loss prevention employee. The suspect, a 52-year-old male from Arcadia, admitted to being under the influence of prescription medication and alcohol. He was cited and released in the field. Arcadia Fire transported the suspect to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for treatment.
At approximately 5:48 p.m., an officer responded to the Westfield Santa Anita Mall, at 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a vandalism report. Sometime between 2:30 and 3 p.m., an unknown suspect scratched the victim’s car. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Dec. 23
Just after 5:18 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of North First Avenue regarding a mail theft report. An unknown suspect(s) used a pry tool to access the community mailbox unit. The suspect(s) then stole mail and fled undetected. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
At approximately 6:51 p.m., an officer responded to Vons, 745 W. Naomi Ave., regarding a grand theft report. The officer discovered the suspect stole the victim’s purse from her shopping cart as she unloaded her groceries. He fled in an awaiting grey sedan, possibly a Hyundai Sonata. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7 with a thin build, seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants. The driver is described as a black female with a medium build. The investigation is ongoing.
Dec. 24
Around 10:06 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Torrey Pines Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the suspects ransacked the residence. The loss is unknown at this time. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 12:15 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of East Santa Clara Street and North First Avenue regarding a battery report. The officer determined an altercation between two transients resulted in the male suspect grabbing the female victim by the shirt and pushing her. The male suspect then threw the victim’s bicycle over a fence and into the flood control area. The suspect has been identified as a 50-year-old male from Arcadia. He is outstanding as of Dec. 30.
Dec. 25
Around 1:53 p.m., an officer responded to CVS, 9952 Las Tunas Drive, regarding an attempted robbery report. The suspect attempted to rob the cashier by simulating a handgun under his sweater, but ultimately fled empty-handed. The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50-years-old, with brown hair and eyes, approximately 5-foot-5, and 140 pounds. The investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after 8:33 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the male victim was scratched and kicked after refusing to go out with his intoxicated girlfriend. The 40-year-old female, from Arcadia, was ultimately arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Dec. 26
Before 6:18 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between 5:30 and 6:10 a.m. on Dec. 26, an unknown suspect smashed the rear window and fled with several tools. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Around 3:30 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect created a fraudulent check, forged the victim’s signature, and cashed the check without the victim’s permission. The investigation is ongoing.
Dec. 27
At about 10:57 a.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of the Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a battery report. The victim reported a traffic control employee pushed her for failing to obey his instructions as she crossed the crosswalk. The suspect is described as a 40-year-old black male, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. The investigation is ongoing.
Just before 1:22 p.m., an officer responded to a condominium complex in the 600 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a vandalism report. The reporting party discovered the community mailbox had been tampered with and was damaged. It is unknown if any mail was stolen. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Dec. 28
Shortly after 10:10 a.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 1300 S. Golden West Ave. regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime between 9:50 and 10:05 a.m., an unknown suspect smashed the rear window and fled with an unknown amount of property. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
At approximately 8:34 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Colorado Place and San Juan Drive regarding a traffic collision. Upon contacting the drivers, the officers discovered a 36-year-old male from San Francisco was driving while under the influence of alcohol when he collided into another vehicle causing moderate injuries to the passengers. Two passengers were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
