Arcadia Crime Blotters: Dec. 1 – Dec. 7

Dec. 1

Shortly before 10:07 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Sharon Road regarding a fraud report. During the month of November, the victim received a series of phone calls from the suspect who, pretending to be her grandson, requested more than $32,000 to be bailed out of jail. The victim complied then discovered she had been scammed after talking to her real grandson. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 3:17 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 N. First St., regarding a vehicle burglary report. An investigation revealed the suspect smashed the victim’s front passenger window and fled with the victim’s cellphone. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Dec. 2

Just after 7:54 a.m., an officer responded to Inheritorcell, 400 E. Live Oak Ave., regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage captured an unknown suspect smash the front window and steal food, drinks, and candy. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old with a short beard. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 10:05 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of San Miguel Drive regarding an aggravated assault report. An investigation revealed an altercation between a husband and wife resulted in the wife punching and scratching her husband. The 64-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Dec. 3

Around 12:28 p.m., an officer responded to Excelsior School, 41 Santa Clara St., regarding a stolen bicycle report. Sometime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 2, an unknown suspect stole a secured black and silver Cannondale Catalyst 3 mountain bike from the bike rack. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Just before 7 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and First Avenue regarding a traffic collision between three vehicles. Upon contacting the drivers, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on one of the driver’s breath. A witness saw the suspect’s vehicle run a red light and cause the collision. The suspect, a 30-year-old male from Arcadia, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Dec. 4

Around 1:07 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of South Second Avenue regarding a petty theft report. The victim discovered sometime between noon and 8 p.m. on Dec. 4, an unknown suspect stole a package from the front porch. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Shortly after 1:54 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. After investigating a series of suspicious jewelry transactions by a specific employee, the loss prevention team discovered the 19-year-old female from San Dimas had stolen more than $1,500 worth of store credit. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Dec. 5

Before 12:46 p.m., an officer responded to LA Fitness, 1325 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determined an unidentified suspect smashed the victim’s window and fled with a wallet containing her keys and ID. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Around 12:49 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Kingsley Drive regarding a burglary in progress. The victim was home alone when she heard her rear sliding glass door shatter. The victim confronted the suspect, who then fled on foot. Neighbors saw three suspects running from the location. The officer was unable to locate them. The suspects are described as males wearing hooded sweatshirts. The investigation is ongoing.

At about 4:19 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Woodruff Avenue regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed that while a Chinese resident was visiting Arcadia, he used chineseinla.com to arrange a money transfer. The transaction was completed. Then a few days later, the victim received WeChat messages from a female asking if he would like to meet her at a house in Arcadia. The victim agreed and upon arriving at the residence the victim was met by four suspects who then robbed him at gunpoint and took his phone to issue an electronic funds transfer resulting in the loss of $90,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 6

Just before 7:56 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of East Pamela Road regarding a theft from vehicle report. The officer determined an unidentified suspect entered the unlocked vehicle, stole miscellaneous coins, sunglasses, and the garage opener and fled with additional tools from the garage. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Shortly after 1:50 p.m., an officer responded to Healthy Origins, 641 W. Duarte Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. The employee witnessed the suspect enter the store, grab a bin of ginseng root valued at approximately $1,853, and flee in a dark colored Honda. The suspect is described as a 20-year-old male, approximately 5-foot-5, with a medium build, and wearing a hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 7

At approximately 2:25 p.m., officers responded to Vons, 745 W. Naomi Ave., regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage captured two suspects steal approximately $2,386 worth of wine. They fled in an older model, blue station wagon. The suspects are described as a white male, 25 to 30-years-old, approximately 6 feet tall and 210 pounds, seen wearing a green camouflage hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and a white female, approximately 25 to 30-years-old, 5-foot-4 and 130 pounds. The investigation is ongoing.
