Rapper A$AP Ferg announced his North American tour last August. The two month tour started in Pittsburg with a grueling schedule. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, A$AP performed at the Hollywood Palladium.

A$AP stands for Always Strive And Prosper. The moniker was styled as A$AP Mob in 2006. The “Mob” is a hip hop collective of east coast artists, specifically from Harlem New York, including record producers and fashion designers.

Tonights LA show came after two weeks on the road. The show ran right on time to a relaxed atmosphere at the Hollywood Palladium. All Ages and all types wandered around the ballroom floor of the historic venue with plenty of elbow room.

Opening the show was Heater IV. The sound was awesome as the audience crowded the stage. Heater IV wore bold white framed sunglasses and looked every part a star. He performed a solo set. The crowd new his music and showed their support and love.

Flowing right into the next performer, Madein TYO appeared on the stage. Without any formal host or emcee, you’d better be up on who’s who. I asked the person next to me if she knew who this artist was. With a huge smile, she replied, “Nope!” Clearly it didn’t matter, she was having a grand old time regardless.

This show focused on each individual artist. With the lights smack dab on the performer, there were no distractions. The audience could have been brutal had they expected anything more. These artists each held their own. They held the audience’s attention without any bells or whistles. There were no floating life size dragons, no dancing girls in Willy Wonka costumes, and no world war apocalypse videos playing behind the DJ.

“WAM” the new video released in October, has already hit 1.5 million views. It features touring guests Madein TYO and Murda Beatz. The video also delivers a straight up approach sans special effects or bikini clad twerking girls. “WAM” doesn’t let the A$AP fans down, giving the sound that makes you feel good and want to dance.

A$AP entertained a very eclectic crowd of fans. Ferg came out on stage wearing a crocheted stuffed animal clad bomber jacket and yelled, “Yo LA!” Ferg’s energy was high. The crowd went bananas as he performed hit after hit. Ferg’s fans were crowd surfing and jumping up and down chanting “TRAP LORD, TRAP LORD” the title of his first album.

Well accomplished Canadian Murda Beatz, BAS, Madein TYO and Heavy IV, all  joined A$AP Ferg on stage as the crowd blazed blunts happily without any clash from the establishment.

The 33 city tour that jump started the holiday season will end this month appropriately in Brooklyn NY.

Floor Seats EP is available now via A$AP Worldwide/Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records.
