Arcadia Crime Blotters: Nov. 17 – Nov. 23
Nov. 17
Shortly before 12:20 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the 00 block of West Live Oak Avenue for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The driver, a 22-year-old male from Alhambra, informed the officer he was on probation for driving under the influence. A records check confirmed this and revealed the driver had a suspended license. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .141%. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 6:11 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a theft report. Surveillance footage revealed a male and female each stole $79 worth of shirts and underwear before exiting the store, failing to make payment. A 38-year-old male from La Puente was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The female suspect fled. She is described as a 35 to 40-year-old Hispanic woman, approximately 5-foot-6, wearing a black short sleeve shirt and blue jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
Nov. 18
Just after 2:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Watson Drive regarding a burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed the unidentified suspects smashed a rear window, ransacked the residence, and fled in a newer model, white Toyota Corolla. The loss is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 4:27 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer discovered unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s locked car by unknown means and fled with a purse and wallet. The suspect(s) then attempted to use the victim’s credit card at the San Gabriel Grocery Outlet, but the transactions were declined. The investigation is ongoing.
Nov. 19
Around 6:55 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime during the previous evening, unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s 2006 Infiniti G35. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 11:57 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of California Street regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed open a basement garage door, used the shower, and spent the night. No witnesses were located.
Nov. 20
Around 3:33 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Altura Road regarding a suspicious subject report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect, a 50 to 55-year-old man with a mustache, activated the resident’s Ring camera and ultimately stole the camera. The suspect fled on a bicycle. The suspect was later identified as a 56-year-old male from Los Angeles. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Shortly after 4:08 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding three suspects in custody for stealing from various stores. The officer discovered the suspects, a 26-year-old female from Palmdale, a 26-year-old male from Lancaster, and a 26-year-old female from Lancaster stole various items from Zumies and Windsor. A records check revealed the 26-year-old female from Palmdale had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and the 26-year-old female from Lancaster had one outstanding misdemeanor warrant and one felony warrant. All three were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Nov. 21
Before 1:43 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 800 block of La Cadena Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s window and fled with a laptop and backpack. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Around 9:53 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Perkins Drive regarding a fraud report. An unknown suspect used the victim’s credit card to make fraudulent purchases without the victim’s permission. The suspect also forged the victim’s signature to receive her packages and used the victim’s identity to order a new phone SIM card. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained her personal information or their identity.
Nov. 22
At about 11:04 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Longley Way regarding a mail theft report. The reporting party discovered the mail box had been tampered with during the previous night. The investigation is ongoing.
Just before 8:19 p.m., an officer responded to Westfield Santa Anita, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding five juvenile suspects in custody for grand theft. An investigation revealed the suspects worked in concert to steal numerous items from stores within the mall. All five suspects attempted to flee, but one was also charged with Battery for pushing an employee out of the way. The suspects are listed as a 16-year-old from West Covina, a 17-year-old from Rowland Heights, a 16-year-old from Hacienda Heights, a 17-year-old from West Covina, and a 17-year-old from La Puente. They were ultimately arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Nov. 23
Shortly after 7:02 a.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 N. First Ave., regarding a commercial burglary report. The victim stated his wallet and keys were stolen from his secured locker sometime between 4:30 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 23. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
At approximately 9:55 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Colorado Boulevard regarding a physical fight between five women and two to three men. The victim approached the group in an effort to help resolve the issue, but the suspect hit the victim over the head with a glass beer bottle. The suspect, a 32-year-old male from Los Angeles, also punched the victim. The suspect is outstanding as of Nov. 23. The investigation is ongoing.
