Arcadia Crime Blotters: Sept. 25 – Sept. 28
Sept. 22
Shortly before 12:56 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Colorado Boulevard and Old Ranch Road for not having the headlights on. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 20-year-old male from Pomona was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 4:07 a.m., an officer responded to 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding a robbery report. When the store clerk confronted the suspect for stealing numerous items, the suspect struck the employee and attempted to flee. The 21-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The suspect was also on probation for robbery at the time of the crime.
Sept. 23
Just after 7:19 a.m., an officer responded to First Avenue Middle School, 301 South First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect smashed a window, entered the school, and stole a laptop sometime during the previous afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 9:29 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of West Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary report. The victim discovered the rear patio door screen had been damaged in an attempt to enter the home, but the suspect was unsuccessful. The victim believes the suspect is a roommate due to a recent argument. The investigation is ongoing.
Sept. 24
Around 8:26 a.m., the Arcadia Police Department received a report of stolen mail from the 200 block of Bonita Street. The victim stated she had her recently mailed social security card and other mail stolen sometime during the previous day. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Just before 11:14 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a domestic dispute. An investigation revealed a physical altercation occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend resulting in the boyfriend pushing the victim to the ground. The 50-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At 12:27 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of North Santa Anita Avenue and West Colorado Boulevard regarding the notification of a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspects fled and a pursuit ensued. For safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated near East Camino Real Avenue and South First Avenue. The suspects are outstanding as of Oct.1.
Sept. 25
Around 9:58 a.m., an officer responded to Quickly Café, 171 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary report. Surveillance footage revealed the unknown suspect smashed the front glass door and fled with a tip jar and register. The suspect also burglarized Thrifty Cleaners, another business in the complex. The investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after 9 p.m., an officer responded to Golden Donut Place, 104 East Foothill Boulevard, regarding a grand theft report. The owner witnessed the suspect steal nearly $10,000 in lottery scratchers. The suspect fled in an awaiting silver, mid-sized pickup truck. The suspect is described as a black male with a hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.
Sept. 26
Before 1:43 p.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of El Dorado Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s van, stole a laptop, and fled undetected. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Sept. 27
At about 3:58 p.m., an officer responded to Chevron Gas Station, 500 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a vandalism report. The suspect parked at the pump, began pumping gas, and while the nozzle was still inserted into the vehicle, the suspect drove away. The suspect stopped and when he was confronted by the store clerk, he declined to offer any identifiable information and fled. The unidentified suspect is outstanding as of Oct. 1.
Sept. 28
Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to Highland Oaks Elementary, 10 Virginia Road, regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) ransacked two portable classrooms and fled with an unknown amount of property. The investigation is ongoing.
Shortly after 12:02 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Sometime between Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, the victim had her laptop stolen from a storage area accessed by various employees and delivery companies. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
At approximately 11:57 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Longden Avenue for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .224%. The 26-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The suspect was also on probation for DUI during the time of the crime.
