It’s only August but city staff is already hard at work coordinating final plans for festivities planned for November and December.
After discussing with MOTAB and the Community Services Commission, the city plans to separate the Holiday Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade into two separate events.
As of now, the plan is to hold a Thankful and Grateful Holiday Gathering event that will include lighting the city’s Christmas tree on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 5-8 p.m. in Library Park. This event is designed to show the city’s gratitude to all who make Monrovia special and to provide an opportunity to show support for community partners who assist those in need during the holiday season. The event will be free to attend, and will include live entertainment, community booths, a truck petting zoo, Library story times, crafts, a canned food drive, hay rides, a community art project, and a very special guest who will assist in the lighting of the tree.
The annual Christmas Parade is scheduled to be held on its traditional date of the first Thursday in December (Dec. 5). The city has not yet provided further details about the parade.
