School is back in session and with it Pasadena high school athletics will soon be in full swing. Here is a preview for the fall sports at Muir, Pasadena and Polytechnic.

Muir

Football

The Mustangs look to continue their winning ways after finishing with a 7-3 record last year. The first game of the season is at home on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. against Western.

Volleyball

The girls’ volleyball team looks to grab their first win in more than a year, after they went 0-16 last season. The first game of the season is at home on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. against Blair.

Pasadena

Football

The Bulldogs improved noticeably last year, rising from 2-8 in 2017 to 6-6 in 2018. They look to keep improving and return to the postseason again this year. Their first game of the season is on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. against St. Genevieve. The game will be played at Los Angeles Valley College.

Field Hockey

The girls’ field hockey team opens their season at home on Sep. 6 at 7 p.m. against Pioneer.

Volleyball

The girls’ volleyball team looks to rebound after a 6-9 season last year. The team’s first game is at home on Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. against La Salle.

Polytechnic

Football

The Panthers had a strong season in 2018, going 7-3. However, they look to go deeper in the playoffs this year after falling in the first round last year. Poly opens their season on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at Cathedral City.

Tennis

The girls’ tennis team will open their season against Brentwood at home on Aug. 29 at 3 p.m.

Volleyball

The Panthers look to continue their dominance from last season, when they went 19-7 and made it to the CIF-SS D4 final. The team opens their season against San Fernando on Aug. 21 at 4 p.m. at home.

Water Polo

The squad looks to continue their success after a 15-10 season in 2018 where they made it to the second round of the playoffs. Their first game is on Sep. 17 at 3:15 p.m. at San Dimas.
