Sign Up for Monrovia Area Partnership Youth or Adult Leadership Academies
The Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP), a city program facilitated by Neighborhood Services staff that hosts events and meetings to train and connect community members dedicated to improving Monrovia, recently announced the schedules for its youth and adult leadership academies for the fall season.
Amongst its many goals, MAP aims to encourage resident involvement in their neighborhoods and community. Participants in the MAP Adult Leadership Academy are trained to recognize and utilize city resources, provide leadership skills, and encouraged to become engaged in the community. Topics covered throughout academy include: connecting in the community, local government, achieving community trust, public speaking, putting theory into practice and much more.
MAP’s Youth Leadership Academy is similar to its adult counterpart but it is designed for middle and high school aged children. The Youth Academy helps young participants learn, develop and grow. Participants start by analyzing how they themselves are leaders and how they can use their skills to make a difference in their communities. Participants learn from each other and how to work together. The Youth Academy ends with participants putting all they learn into action.
