The Arcadia Host Lions Club has been serving the Arcadia Community in the San Gabriel Valley since 1936. Helen Keller challenged their founder, Melvin Jones, to make the Lions the Knights of the Blind in 1925. This led to Lions Clubs adopting vision loss as its primary focus for community service. That’s why they collect and recycle glasses and offer eye screenings at the Senior/Community Center for seniors who qualify for the services.
If you would like to help them make a difference in the community, join them for lunch on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. at Villa Catrina Mexican Restaurant, located at 251 N. Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia, or contact them at arcadiahostlions@gmail.com and learn about Lionism and helping your community.
