Monrovia Community Garden Pilot Program Ready for Ribbon Cutting
The City of Monrovia will launch the Monrovia Community Garden Pilot Program with a formal Ribbon Cutting on Saturday at 9 a.m. at 303 W. Colorado Blvd. The entire community is invited to join the celebration.
The Community Garden has garden beds which include:
- Individual irrigation for each garden bed.
- Organic soil in each plot.
- An educational demonstration garden.
- Permanent fencing.
- Decomposed granite pathways.
- Fruit trees that have started to bear fruit.
The garden was designed to provide the community with a variety of opportunities to learn about urban gardening and sustainability, while providing interested families with a space to grow their own garden. Out of the 27 individuals who applied, 21 burgeoning gardeners were accepted for the available private garden plots and they have already started gardening.
