Arcadia Crime Blotters: July 7 – July 13

July 7

Shortly before 12:52 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Colorado Boulevard regarding the alert of a stolen vehicle in the area.  An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen by Burbank Police Department. The 22-year-old male driver from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 11:26 a.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The manager of the store witnessed one suspect steal more than $1,500 worth of lingerie.

The suspect is described as a male with brown hair, approximately 5’7”, 155 pounds, wearing oversized clothing and a black jacket with a camouflage stripe on the shoulders. The suspect is responsible for another theft from the location on July 6th. The investigation is ongoing.

Just after 8:23 p.m., officers responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a battery that occurred in the parking lot of Chase Bank, 700 W. Huntington Drive. The victim stated an altercation occurred between the victim and her boyfriend resulting in the boyfriend punching, hitting, and scratching her causing visible bruises. The 20-year-old male from Rowland Heights was located, arrested, and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 8

At approximately 5:59 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive, regarding an industrial accident. The officer discovered a construction worker working on the roof of the school fell through the roof to the ground, approximately 15’ below. Arcadia Fire evaluated the male and transported him to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment.

July 9

Around 1:03 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Duarte Road and Baldwin Avenue for making an illegal left turn. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the vehicle. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .094%. The 38-year-old male from Las Vegas was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of Santa Anita Avenue and Colorado Boulevard regarding the alert of a stolen vehicle. The officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Los Angeles Police Department, Olympic Division and the suspect was in possession of methamphetamine and a smoking pipe. The 35-year-old male from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 10

At about 3:30 p.m., an officer responded to Fun Box, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed the victim’s purse was stolen while it was left unattended. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after 3:50 p.m., an officer responded to Premier Cosmetic, 59 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a fraud report. The business discovered unknown suspects printed and cashed numerous fraudulent checks valued at more than $13,500. The business does not know how the suspect(s) obtained their account information or the identity of the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

July 11

Before 3:03 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of W. Huntington Drive regarding two suspicious suspects in the rear parking lot of the apartment complex. Upon locating their vehicle and contacting them, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from inside the vehicle. The driver, a 38-year-old male from Azusa, admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana and, during a consensual search of the vehicle, the officers located burglary tools and methamphetamine. A records check of both occupants revealed the passenger, a 33-year-old female from Pomona, had an outstanding felony warrant. Both were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 9:12 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Congregational Church, 2607 S. Santa Anita Ave., regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) stole the church’s audio mixing board, valued at $1,200. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

 July 12

At about 8:10 a.m., an officer responded to Holy Angels Church, 370 Campus Drive, regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s window, entered the vehicle, moved the vehicle to a different part of the parking lot in an attempt to steal it, but ultimately fled without the vehicle. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Just before 10:25 a.m., an officer responded to the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered a paycheck to the suspect had been altered from $15 to $1,500. The suspect, a 39-year-old male from Duarte, is outstanding as of July 16.

July 13

Shortly after 12:43 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of Windsor Road regarding an aggravated assault. An argument between brothers escalated resulting in one brother hitting the other with a golf club. The investigation of the 59-year-old male from Arcadia is ongoing.

At approximately 12:20 p.m., an officer responded to D2 Hair Studio, 556 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a robbery report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects entered the salon from the rear, pointed a black handgun at the patrons, and fled with a purse and bag.

The suspects are described as males, one heavy set, and the other with a thin build. The investigation is ongoing.
