Over 600 artists and tens of thousands of visitors expected to attend

The Paseo, an open-air lifestyle shopping center in downtown Pasadena, together with Light Bringer Project, a non-profit Pasadena-based arts organization, will host the 27th annual Pasadena Chalk Festival on Father’s Day weekend, June 15-16 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Farmer-owned dairy cooperative Tillamook County Creamery Association will sponsor the event, which is free and open to the public. While free to attend, proceeds from sales at the event’s art gallery and silent art auction will benefit Light Bringer Project’s arts education program for underserved youth.

More than a quarter of a century in the making, the Pasadena Chalk Festival has become a coveted family-friendly event attracting thousands of art-appreciating fans to The Paseo to celebrate the history and centuries-old artistry of street painting. This year’s event will shine a spotlight on the talents of nearly 600 chalk artists who will work simultaneously, using more than 25,000 sticks of pastel chalk, to create hundreds of life-sized murals. During the 2019 Pasadena Chalk Festival, there will be music, entertainment and an art-themed kids craft where children can display their own creative talents.

The kids craft will take place in “Room 13 @ Pasadena Chalk” children’s area from noon to 5 p.m. each day. For a $5 donation, children will receive a cotton tote bag to customize using markers provided by Bazic Products. Kids will be able to take home the bags and markers. All donations from this kids craft will benefit the Light Bringer Project.

Other must-attend events throughout the weekend include:

  • Pasadena Police classic car show.
  • Animation Alley showcasing animation art and animators in action.
  • Chalk of Fame featuring movie-themed chalk art near ArcLight Cinema.
  • Artist Gallery offering small painted canvases and other merchandise for sale.
  • Silent art auction.
  • Music and entertainment.
  • Artist awards ceremony.
  • Tillamook Yum Bus offering free ice cream tasting flights.
