The Veterans of Foreign Wars Meeting House needs repairs to its roof. To raise the funds, the VFW is holding a painting party. Unlike Tom Sawyer, the veterans are not asking for help with the roofing, but rather are hosting a Warrior Art Evening at the VFW Hall, 825 S. Magnolia Ave., on June 20 starting at 6:30 p.m.

For $26 participants can create a painting under the direction of veteran and artist Walvin Alfaro (or for those like my husband – watch others paint). The fee also includes a cheeseburger and fries (drinks sold separately) dinner. This sure beats Tom Sawyer as you will at least end up with dinner and a painting of some sort.

Registration is available on line at Eventbrite.com.
