What’s Going on With Monrovia Weekly?
By Terry Miller
Beacon Media and Monrovia Weekly have undertaken some transformation(s); a makeover, so to speak. This transformation involved consolidating our news and information resources and devoting more space to regional news, albeit at the risk of scaling back our local coverage.
We have been gratified with countless comments passed our way recently. We have received scores of letters and emails in addition to phone calls and it has become abundantly clear that you want and need LOCAL Monrovia news each week in our newspapers. And you want it NOW. We hear you and want to invite you to tell us what you’d actually like to see in Monrovia Weekly.
In the coming weeks we’ll be providing some details of the community forum we’d like to have to discuss these very issues. We want to get you the news you need, want and are passionate about.
We’d love to cover the local little league as if it were the World Series. We aspire to cover all aspects of City Council decisions and keep our local government accountable and transparent. We’d love to publish police and fire activity in the city; additionally we would love to feature the unsung heroes in Monrovia.
Your letters, phone calls and emails have given this newspaper a much needed heightened sense of community and yearning to continue to produce a sincere community paper which provides news, information and a vehicle for local merchants to advertise their goods and services.
If you would like to RSVP now please email info@beaconmedianews.com. If you’re unable to attend but want to add your two-cents, we encourage you to let us know. What would you like to see in the new and revised Monrovia Weekly? Tell us via U.S. Postal Service, email (tmiller@beaconmedianews.com) or fax.
