People come from far and wide to attend RuPaul’s DragCon. The event has grown from a subculture phenomenon (driven by the rising popularity of RuPaul’s Drag Race), to a huge money-making destination occupying the entire South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Attendees wait in long lines, curving around fabric covered booths to have their very own moment with their favorite drag queens. From Alyssa Edwards to Yvie Oddly, queens spanning seasons and styles build up a piece of their empire and await their faithful followers.
While the queens may be the main stars of the bustling event, the true inspiration is on the main floor. Without ever waiting in a line or meeting a famous queen, you’ll experience art, glamour and stimulation all around you.
We, at LA Canvas, decided to honor those living their fantasy on the floor of RuPaul’s DragCon. They are the attendees who made us stop and stare. They are the bold and beautiful who let their freak flags fly and look delicious doing it.
Enjoy the portraits captured by LA’s own Harrison Pearl.
