The Arroyo Singers present “How Can I Keep From Singing,” a dynamic spring concert that will include musical works by both classical and contemporary icons such as Henry Purcell, Mozart, Handel, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Schwartz. The concert will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 4 p.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 400 W. Duarte Road.
Ryan Brown, a choral director at California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley and a teaching associate for the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, is the new director of The Arroyo Singers. Previously, Brown served as associate conductor for the National Children’s Chorus, artistic director for Diamonds from the Dust, artistic director for the Wachusett Community Choir, and as choral conductor at Wachusett regional High School in Holden, Mass. Brown also sings professionally and regularly makes appearances with ensembles like Voces8, Seraphic Fire, Red Shift, De Angelis Vocal Ensemble, and Areté.
Brown is “committed to connecting with modern audiences though relevant choral programming and innovative choral performance.”
