Options for Learning, one of the largest nonprofit child care and early learning organizations in Southern California, is dedicated to helping families improve their lives, by providing students and families with the tools to create a positive foundation for school, social and life success.

After an intensive search, Options for Learning has announce the selection of Paul Pulver as its new CEO. Paul follows the organization’s previous founder & CEO, Cliff Marcussen, who retired in August of 2018. Options for Learning’s Board of Directors selected Mr. Pulver after an extensive regional search led by a professional search firm along with a team of Board Members and Management Staff. Options for Learning’s Interim CEO, Margarite Buitrago, was instrumental in assisting the organization during the leadership transition period.

Under Mr. Marcussen’s dedicated leadership, Options for Learning developed innovative programs, strengthened relationships with community partners and became a highly regarded child development agency. Options for Learning anticipates that Mr. Pulver will leverage these achievements to help the organization continue serving children, families and child care providers throughout the San Gabriel Valley, Whittier, Pomona Valley and Northeast Los Angeles areas.

“It is a challenging job to replace a founding CEO. And the Board wants to again thank Cliff Marcussen for his 38 years of service to the Agency and Child Development,” says Dave Wilbur, Board President. “We took the time that was needed to make sure we found the right person for the job and we found that person – Paul Pulver. He, along with our excellent staff, will lead our agency into the future, facing and overcoming new challenges as they come.”

Pulver joins Options for Learning after over 25 years of work in the nonprofit sector providing services to children and their families.

“I am so pleased to have been selected as the CEO for Options for Learning and to lead the organization in its expansive work to improve the lives of children and their families,” says Paul. “Options for Learning is the largest provider of child care and child care financial assistance, and one of the largest employers of women in the San Gabriel Valley. I’m looking forward to finding new ways to meet the needs of families in our community and consistently deliver high-quality care and service.”

Paul started his role as CEO on April 29, 2019.
