Note: Each month Arcadia Unified Superintendent Dr. David Vannasdall will provide an update about our local schools that will be published in the Arcadia Weekly.

Dear Parents, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly each school year goes by just as it never ceases to amaze me how remarkable our students, teachers, staff, and community are.

We recently celebrated our Arcadia Unified Teacher of the Year, Jan Dickson from Longley Way Elementary School; our Classified Employee of the Year, Mirella Sanchez from Holly Avenue Elementary School; our 24 Profiles in Excellence recipients (an internal staff awards program where the previous year’s recipients help select 12 certificated and 12 classified staff to celebrate); and our outstanding 22 Arcadia High National Merit Finalists at the 53rd Annual Public School Luncheon.

This event always serves as a reminder of how strong our district is because of the support we show each other throughout our district and the support we receive from the Arcadia community. With the mayor and representatives from the police and fire departments, the library, volunteer organizations, and countless other valued community partners present to join in celebrating our students, teachers and staff, this unified celebration is indicative of what makes Arcadia so special–we support each other for the betterment of our community and the future.

As we enter the final stretch of this school year, please accept my sincere gratitude for another outstanding year filled with great memories, inspiring moments and foundation laid for more exciting opportunities ahead. Simply put, we could not operate at the level of excellence we do without your support. On behalf of our Board of Education and entire Arcadia Unified team, thank you!
