Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts Awards Hillsides a Music Program Grant
Hillsides, a Southern California foster care and mental health charity, has received a $1,200 grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts. The grant will fund Hillsides’ music education program, which provides music classes and enrichment activities to the students of the Hillsides Education Center, a therapeutic nonpublic school for children with social-emotional, learning, and/or behavioral challenges.
“We are very grateful for the continued support of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, which has consistently helped fund our music program,” said Hillsides President and CEO Joseph M. Costa. “Music is a key component in our students’ education and healing.”
Since its inception in 1965, the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has produced an annual fundraiser, the Pasadena Showcase House of Design (Showcase House), which has grown into one of the largest and most successful home and garden tours in the United States and is visited by tens of thousands of guests each year. Proceeds from the Showcase House benefit the organization’s youth music programs and gifts and grants program.
This year’s Showcase House will be held at the Boddy House on the grounds of Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge from April 21 – May 19. The Hollywood Regency style, 12,000-square-foot mansion was designed by James E. Dolena and will be reimagined by 26 designers. Tickets range from $35 – $50, and include free parking and shuttle service. Tickets can be purchased either by calling (714) 442-3872 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. or visiting pasadenashowcase.org.
