April 7
Shortly before 6:17 p.m., officer responded to the 00 block of Wheeler Avenue regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed bait equipment to combat the increase in construction site thefts. Officers located the 59-year-old male from Santa Monica and the stolen property. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 8:01 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a suspect in custody for theft. A loss prevention employee witnessed the suspect conceal $271.50 worth of merchandise and exit the store, failing to make payment. The suspect, a 37-year-old female from Alhambra, was also in possession of stolen merchandise from three other stores located inside the mall. During a consensual search, the officer located methamphetamine and a smoking pipe. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
April 8
Just after 4:11 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Las Tunas Drive and El Monte Avenue for speeding. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the 35-year-old male’s breath. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the Glendora resident was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.14%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 4:17 p.m., officers responded to a battery report that occurred near the 00 block of East Colorado Boulevard. An investigation revealed an altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend turned physical when the male suspect choked, hit, and pushed the victim. The 24-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. Arcadia Fire evaluated the victim but she refused further treatment.
April 9
Around 6:53 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Forest Avenue regarding a homicide report. The officer discovered a deceased female in the backyard of the home and the inside of the home appeared to be ransacked. The case was then referred to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Unit pending further investigation.
Just before 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Portola Drive regarding a fraud report. The victim received a voicemail from someone claiming to be from the Social Security Administration claiming the victim’s personal information had been stolen and therefore would be frozen. The victim identified this as a scam and reported it immediately.
April 10
At about 6:50 p.m., an officer responded to a parking lot in the 00 block of Las Tunas Drive regarding a theft from vehicle report. The victim left all of the doors unlocked and when they returned, discovered his violin, case, and computer had been stolen. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Shortly after 8:20 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Tenth Avenue and Live Oak Avenue for stopping in the middle of a cross walk. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. A series of tests confirmed the 60-year-old female from Duarte was driving with a blood alcohol content of .121%. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
April 11
Before 2:38 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Birchcroft Street regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) smashed a rear window, ransacked the home and fled through the front door. The loss is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
April 12
At about 11:57 a.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 44-year-old male from Colton, stole nearly $700.00 worth of merchandise. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. He was released a short time later. At 3:07 p.m. on the same day, the suspect returned to Macy’s, was witnessed stealing more merchandise, but dropped the items as the loss prevention employee approached him.
Just before 4:27 p.m., officers responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery report. As the victim was holding her wallet, the knocked it out of her hand, picked it up, and fled to nearby vehicle. Assisting officers canvassed the area and located the vehicle. The suspects were at a nearby gas station using the victim’s credit card to make fraudulent purchases. The victim and witnessed identified the suspects and officers arrested an 18-year-old female from El Monte, 20-year-old male from El Monte, and a 17-year-old male from La Puente.
Around 6:54 p.m., officers and the assisting Pomona Police Helicopter responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a Lo-Jack notification of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot. An investigation revealed the driver borrowed the vehicle from a friend who fraudulently leased the vehicle. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Riverside, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The investigation is ongoing.
April 13
Shortly after 5:29 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Longden Avenue regarding a burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) used nearby bricks to smash a rear window causing the audible alarm to activate, then they ransacked the location, and fled with a purse and its contents. The investigation is ongoing.
At approximately 11:05 p.m., an officer responded to the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracking device in the 300 block of West Duarte Road. The officer located the 30-year-old male from Fontana and the stolen package and items. A records check revealed he also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
