City of Monrovia’s Annual MAP Neighborhood Conference Gets New Look
The City of Monrovia strives to provide a premier quality of life to the community. A part of providing that premier quality of life includes an outstanding program designed to build community through a partnership of residents, agencies and city departments – the Monrovia Area Partnership (MAP). Each year, the City of Monrovia hosts a free conference for the community – presented by MAP – on topics that are important to all invested in Monrovia and keeping it strong and vibrant.
MAP is gearing up for their 10th Annual Neighborhood Conference on April 6 from 9:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church-Education Center (925 S. Shamrock Ave.).This is a free event that is open to all residents and the whole community. To celebrate, MAP has a lot of fun things in store. 2019’s conference has a whole new look and feel, starting with a new location, new theme and new workshops. The theme this year is “Not Without You.” This theme was chosen simply because accomplishments achieved from MAP programs and events stem from the community.
- The conference covers topics including:
- An in-depth look at Neighborhood Treasures.
- Upcoming development in Monrovia.
- De-escalation simulations with Monrovia PD.
- Celebrating Monrovia’s rich history.
- Active shooter training.
- Renewal updates and more.
In addition to that, there is free lunch, donated by supportive local restaurants including Wendy’s, Jersey Mikes and Tommy Burgers. After lunch with key note speaker Michael Pointer Sr., there will be a health and information fair including various screenings and information from local organizations (Baldwin Park Housing Authority, city departments, Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley and Farm Fresh to You to name a few), as well as some raffle prizes.
The MAP Conference hosts workshops educating participants on topics ranging from Monrovia resources to disaster preparedness. Participants enjoy food, entertainment, workshops and small group discussions. This event is deeply impactful on the way event participants view the community and learn to participate in its continued growth.
Online registration is now open for the 10th Annual Neighborhood Conference. Follow MAP Facebook or contact MAP staff at (626) 932-5563 for more information.
