With themes of identity, nature, and culture, “No Boundaries 14,” the Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) 14th annual art exhibition featuring 300 artworks by students from all 28 district schools, opens March 8-16 at The Paseo in historic downtown Pasadena. The exhibition kicks off on March 8 with a grand opening reception on Art Night Pasadena, when the city’s most prominent museums and cultural institutions open their doors for free and special programming. PUSD’s “No Boundaries 14” exhibition is open for viewing through March 16.

For the first time, the exhibition is curated and produced by students from Rose City High School in partnership with Side Street Projects. Rose City High students examined works submitted by each K-12th grade PUSD school through an aesthetic and conceptual lens. Themes of identity, nature, and culture emerged and informed the students’ curatorial decisions on the works and placement. The idea of “No Boundaries” is a thread throughout the exhibit because there are no boundaries to the ways in which students can create and present work, just as there are no boundaries to the audience’s perspective and connection to the work. This sensibility is core to how the exhibition was curated and produced.

The opening reception featuring student performances is Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at The Paseo (300 E. Colorado Blvd., Suite 151, Pasadena).

The exhibition is open March 8 from 6 – 10 p.m. Gallery hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday from March 9-16. Admission is free.
“No Boundaries 14” is produced by PUSD’s Arts Education department in partnership with the City of Pasadena’s Division of Cultural Affairs and the Pasadena Educational Foundation, Art Night Pasadena, Side Street Projects, and The Paseo.
