In most cases, the semifinal game between the second and third seeds in the Pacific League tournament is considered to be the most competitive match-up.

However, this wasn’t the case on Tuesday as No. 3 Arcadia girls’ water polo cruised past No. 2 Burroughs 7-2 to earn a spot in the tournament finals against No. 1 Crescenta Valley.

This proved to be a nice surprise for an Apache team that was not only on a three-game losing streak entering the semifinal game, but also not having the best of seasons considering their current 13-14 record. However, Arcadia’s saving grace on paper was its league record of 3-2.

And despite already losing to Burroughs once this year, the Apaches were an entirely different team in the Pacific League Tournament. Arcadia dominated the Indians on all fronts as the team punched its ticket to the finals on Thursday.

The final will feature a rematch between Arcadia and Crescenta Valley as the two sides met on Jan. 23 with the Falcons taking the game 13-9.
