In a super competitive Pacific League, Arcadia girls’ soccer has taken care of business in its last couple games, defeating Burbank 4-0 last week while thrashing Muir 9-0 on Tuesday.
Despite a painful 2-1 loss to Crescenta Valley on Jan. 11, the 8-1-1 Apaches are still in great shape to win the league title. However, that definitely won’t be a walk in the park as both Burroughs and Crescenta Valley are tied for first place at 9-1-1.
While the loss to CV is a setback, Arcadia did manage to get the best of Burroughs 3-2 back on Jan. 8. This series of events has essentially ensured a photo finish in the race for the league crown and it is very likely we will see co-champions when the dust clears.
The Apaches, however, have made it clear that they want no part in that based on their recent performances against Burbank and especially Muir.
The last-place Mustangs could not keep pace in Tuesday’s game against Arcadia. The Apaches dominated in all facets of the contest, jumping out to a 4-0 lead by the half and then finishing Muir off with five goals in the second.
By the time this article is published, Arcadia will have played Pasadena (5-3-2) on Wednesday while their next game will be on Friday against Glendale (5-5-1).
