Their research highlights limited ISP choices in Pasadena

Are you frustrated with the limited choices of internet providers in your area? What if there was a place where you could easily collect all the information you need to make a smart choice on what internet provider to sign up for? Well now there is. BroadbandNow is a website that gives consumers the tools to compare prices and find internet service providers (ISP) in their area. Or as they like to describe it, “it’s like Kayak for Internet service.” The organization also focuses on bringing awareness to internet access issues in the U.S. They recently performed research in Pasadena pertaining to internet providers available in the city and these are just a few things their research found:
- There are 26 internet providers in Pasadena with 7 of those offering residential service.
- Residential fiber service is available to only 5 percent of people living in Pasadena.
- Approximately 100 percent of Pasadena residents are serviced by multiple wired providers.
According to BroadbandNow the City of Roses is covered by two main internet providers: Charter Spectrum and AT&T. However, there are four other wired providers that cover certain areas of the city. As more and more large corporations merge together the end result of these business deals leave the consumer with a limited choice of internet access with high fees and slow service. BroadbandNow focuses on increasing internet coverage and provide tools to make it easy for consumers to have access to the internet free of marketing and bias.
