
On Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at approximately 9:22 p.m., Pasadena homicide detectives arrested suspect, Mary Jean O’Connor, in North Hollywood, Calif. O’Connor was transported to the Pasadena city jail where she was booked for murder, California Penal Code Section 187, as a result of an investigation into the death of Pasadena Jeri Douglas, female, 75-years old, a Pasadena resident.
The investigation began on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at approximately 3:40 p.m. when the Pasadena Police Department responded to a condominium complex in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue regarding a welfare check call. The caller was concerned she was unable to make contact with her mother. Officers made forced entry inside the location where they found the victim unresponsive and not breathing.
Pasadena Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded for the decedent. Due to suspicious circumstances at the scene, Pasadena homicide detectives responded for further investigation. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office ruled the suspicious death a homicide.
The motive for this tragic murder remains under investigation by Pasadena Police detectives. Detectives do not believe this murder was a random act of violence.
