1. Rhythm Room L.A.206 W. 6th St. Los Angeles

A big space does wonders for the acoustics of live music. Rhythm Room L.A. is one of the city’s underground lounges that has existed since World War II. This basement was once used as a cocktail bar and since then has been revived with live jazzy music, ping pong, pool, darts and drinks! This lounge is open Monday to Saturday 5 P.M. to 2 A.M.

2. The Hotel Café  1623 1/2 N. Cahuenga Blvd. Los Angeles

Rated four-and-a-half stars on Yelp, The Hotel Café is another venue to consider for live music entertainment. There is an age requirement of 21 and over and shows are not free. Most artists that perform at this venue are rising up or are locals looking to play in their community. Hours at this venue varies by performance schedules.

3. A Simple Bar —3256 Cahuenga Blvd. W. Los Angeles

If you’re looking for a more ambient vibe, A Simple Bar is the place to go. True to its name, this bar has a DJ, live music, dancing and drinks like any other place. What makes this place unique is its diversity and hosting of different types of events. Hours are Monday through Sunday generally 1 P.M. to 1 A.M.

4. Garden Cafe —681 S. Western Ave. Koreatown, Wilshire Center

Located in the Garden Suite Hotel and Resort, Garden Cafe is one of LA’s piano bars with live music, drinks and comedy nights. This joint is conveniently located near the Wiltern and open to come to after a show. Hours here are generally Monday through Sunday 4 P.M. to 2 A.M. , although hours on the weekend may vary.

5. The Cinema Bar —3967 Sepulveda Blvd. Culver City

If you’re looking for a simple traditional dive bar, The Cinema Bar, as one of the oldest bars in Culver City is the place to go for country, folky tunes. Hours are Monday through Sunday 2 P.M. to 2 A.M.
