Carmen Martinez, a local realtor is sponsoring a candle-light vigil in honor of the Monrovia woman and her daughter, who were found murdered in their home last week. The city of Monrovia is holding its tree-lighting ceremony tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 12 starting at 4 p.m. Martinez has planned her event to “piggyback” on the city event.

Martinez sent notification to this publication that she plans to “gather at the Monrovia Public Library Fountain area at 6:30 p.m. She suggests bringing battery operated candles or if bringing regular wax candle that you also bring a cup to catch the melting wax. Dome candles have been donated for the vigil.

Her notification also stated that Tim Mahan, one of the youth pastors at Fellowship Monrovia will lead those attending in prayer and Jennifer Ranger and her family will share their vocal talents with “Amazing Grace.”

There will also be an opportunity for members of the community to share their thoughts with the family of the murder victims as Martinez will have poster board and markers as well as note cards to share memories.
