In the continuing investigation into a double murder in Monrovia, Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are seeking a suspect in those murders. Investigators are searching for a woman’s live-in boyfriend after she and her teen daughter were found dead in their Monrovia apartment on Wednesday, officials said.
On Wednesday, Dec. 5 at approximately 1 p.m., officers from the Monrovia Police Department responded to the 800 block of West Colorado Boulevard in order to conduct a welfare check on the residents. Upon arriving, the officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the location. They made entry to the residence through an open window, and discovered the bodies of a female Hispanic adult and a female Hispanic juvenile inside. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives identified the victims as Cecilia Meza, 41, and her daughter Kelsey Meza, 17, both of Monrovia.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s report, autopsies found that Cecilia Meza was strangled to death while her daughter died from both strangulation and blunt head trauma. A vigil was scheduled for Dec. 12 at Library Park for both.
The mother’s boyfriend, 33-year-old Nimrod Perez Guerrero, has been identified as a suspect in the double homicide case. Guerrero is seen in a driver’s license photo released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators were unable to locate Guerrero Wednesday night and said he was likely traveling in a gray 2014 Toyota RAV4 with California license plate No. 7FPB132.
Authorities described him as a Latino man measuring around 5-feet-8 and weighing around 200 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was believed to be armed and dangerous.
