Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Arcadia
By The Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association
With the holiday season upon us, there are many great ways to enjoy this time of year in Downtown Arcadia. Starting late November, Downtown Arcadia transforms into a holiday winter wonderland with the annual installation of holiday lights on trees, light posts and other decorative holiday décor.
On Monday, Dec. 3 from 5:30 – 7 p.m., the Arcadia Chanukah Public Menorah Lighting celebration takes place at the Arcadia Transit Plaza. The event is free to attend and includes live music, Chanukah crafts, chocolate coins, balloons for kids and other fun. On Thursday, Dec. 6 from 6 – 8 p.m., the annual Downtown Arcadia Christmas Tree Lighting Festival happens at the Arcadia Transit Plaza. Santa will arrive by Fire Truck and help the Mayor flip the switch lighting up a fully decorated 30-foot tall Christmas tree. The event also includes an artisanal craft market with handcrafted items, gifts and foods. In addition, stop by for free cocoa and cookies, strolling carolers, ornament making, face painting and great holiday photo opportunities.
Downtown Arcadia businesses will also be getting in on the holiday spirit with events and dinner specials. On Saturday Dec. 1, Mt. Lowe Brewing Company kicks off December with their 2-year anniversary party from 11 a.m. – Midnight. As part of the event, Mt. Lowe is also offering a special Anniversary Package that includes custom T-Shirt, canvas Mt. Lowe bag and a souvenir pint glass with one free fill and happy hour pricing on all refills. On Thursday, Dec. 13, Matt Denny’s Alehouse Restaurant hosts their 19th Annual Holiday Dinner. Sign-up to reserve your space for a delicious five-course feast including sampling 10 of their finest ales on tap. Matt Denny’s will raffle off great prizes and holiday gifts at the dinner as well. For live music throughout the season, check out the Arcadia Blues Club’s schedule of rotating musicians performing every Friday and Saturday night as well as a special New Year’s Eve show.
