A 28-year-old male transient confessed to starting two fires in Arcadia and was recently arrested, according to Arcadia PD.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, an officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East Santa Clara Street regarding an arson investigation.

The Arcadia Fire Department was on scene and had extinguished a fire at the bottom of the freeway embankment.

The fire department had previously extinguished a fire in the area of First Avenue and Colorado Boulevard earlier in the day at 8 a.m.

Arson investigators identified a person of interest during the investigation that possessed a cigarette lighter. The subject ultimately confessed to starting both fires.

The subject was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
