The Monrovia Police Department (MPD) and the Monrovia Fire and Rescue are two of many local agencies that have stepped in to assist with evacuation due to the massive Woolsey fire.

MPD patrol as well as the department’s special enforcement team deployed to the area on Friday, Nov. 10. MPD has been helping as much as possible to ensure the safety of all persons and property involved. Monrovia Fire & Rescue currently has two units assisting with the fires.

The Woolsey fire started on Nov. 8 and as of today it has burned 96,314 acres and is only 35 percent contained. It has destroyed 435 structures and threatens another 57,000 structures. Firefighting conditions will remain difficult as the National Weather Service Office has issued a Red Flag warning for the Los Angeles and Oxnard areas until Nov. 15.
