The “orphans” are all local school children

The Monrovia Unified School District’s professional production for the community this December will be “Annie” and all the orphans are local school children. Fourteen of the young girls playing orphans are from Monrovia. They range from elementary to middle school students, one youngster is even home schooled.

Annie is the 12th musical the school district has produced. They have ranged from its first productions of “The Music Man” and “White Christmas” to the most recent, “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat” with such standout productions as Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” in the middle. The reasonable ticket prices allow all parts of the community and families to attend the performances.

Standard tickets for the Friday, Dec. 7 night performance and those of Saturday night the 8th and Sunday evening the 9th are only $25 for general admission adults. Students and children under 12 are only $15. Seniors and groups of ten or more are only $20. A VIP section with seating in rows 2-6 in the enter section are available for $35. The VIP seats are also available for the Saturday matinee at the same price; all other matinee seats are only $10.

The Friday and Saturday night performances will begin at 8 p.m. The Saturday matinee starts and 2 p.m. and the Sunday evening performance will be at 5 p.m.

Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets and will be $5 more for each type of ticket at the door.
