Arcadia Crime Blotters: Oct. 28 – Nov. 3

Oct. 28

Shortly before 12:32 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Oakglen Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) pried open a rear sliding door, ransacked the home, and fled with $9,000 in cash from a small safe. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 9:04 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Duarte Road and Holly Avenue regarding a suspect seen taking mail from multiple mail boxes. Officers located the suspect and determined he was in possession of the stolen mail, a blank check, fraudulent cash, and stolen debit and credit cards. The 37-year-old male from San Gabriel was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Oct. 29

Just after 12:02 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Temple City Boulevard and Duarte Road regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway. They located the parked vehicle and discovered the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving under the influence of marijuana and alcohol. The 28-year-old male from Temple City was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 8:09 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Longden Avenue and Second Avenue for driving with expired registration. The driver, a 19-year-old female from Arcadia, was previous cited by Arcadia Police Department for driving with expired registration and she failed to renew her registration by the deadline. She was cited and released in the field. Her car was impounded for having eight outstanding parking citations.

Around 10:53 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Market Place, 288 E. Live Oak Ave., regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) opened an unsecured electrical panel door and stole approximately $3,000 worth of circuit breakers. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Just before 3:14 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Encanto Drive, regarding a burglary report. The officer discovered the suspect(s) broke a window panel from a rear door; they ransacked the home, and fled with coins, a check book, and a silver container. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Oct. 30

At about 11:04 p.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of South Baldwin Drive regarding a grand theft report. Sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Oct. 30, an unknown suspect cut and stole the victim’s catalytic converter from his Ford F-250. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Oct. 31

Shortly after 8:28 a.m., an officer responded to the area of 100 E. La Sierra Drive regarding the activation of an Arcadia Police Department GPS tracker. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed bait packages to combat the increase in package thefts from residential areas. An investigation revealed two suspects had the stolen bait package in their vehicle. The suspects also had a 9-year-old in the car at the time of the crime. The 41-year-old female from Glendora and a 39-year-old male from South El Monte were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The male driver was also driving with a suspended license. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) was contacted.

Before 9:33 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of West Longden Avenue regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered an unknown suspect made a fraudulent purchase on their credit card at a gas station in Garden Grove. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained her personal information or the identity of the suspect. The victim was in possession of her card at the time the crime was committed.

Nov. 1

Around 8:09 a.m., an officer responded to Q Gifts, 11746 Clark St., Unit A, regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspect(s) forced entry through the main door, stole backpacks and a box of t-shirts, and punctured a hole in the wall in an attempt to enter the adjoining office.  No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Nov. 2

At about 12:13 a.m., officers initiated an enforcement stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Gate 8 of the Santa Anita Race Track for driving without license plates on the vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the 61-year-old male transient from Arcadia was seen with a meth pipe in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located nine fraudulent $100 bills. A records check revealed the suspect also had an outstanding felony warrant. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 1:26 p.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of West Foothill Boulevard regarding a fraud report. The victim reported receiving a letter from PayPal stating he had opened a credit card with them. The victim didn’t authorize a new card be issued to him. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained his personal information or the identity of the suspect.

Nov. 3

Shortly after 12:24 a.m., officers responded to the 12300 block of Lower Azusa Road regarding a burglary in progress. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect likely entered the business through an unlocked front door and fled with a charging cord. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male with a goatee and seen wearing a grey baseball hat, a Puma backpack, and dark pants. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 7:49 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 00 block of Genoa Street regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed the female victim was choked by the suspect after she declined his advances. The suspect, a 55-year-old male from Covina, was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed the victim, a 34-year-old from Huntington Park, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. She too was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking
