The Department of Transportation announced that both Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride are offering free rides on Election Day. The majority of polling places in Pasadena fall within ¼ mile of a Pasadena Transit bus stop.

Numerous other transit agencies in LA County will be joining Pasadena in offering free fare on Election Day including Foothill Transit, LA DOT, Long Beach Transit, and Antelope Valley Transit Authority to help people to get to the polls.

In the June 2018 primary election, Los Angeles County saw a voter turnout of just 28 percent, which is the second lowest of the 47 California counties that reported. Additionally, studies have shown that minority, low income, persons with disabilities and youth voters in particular have consistently lower turnout than average. Voters cannot reach polls without adequate means of transportation. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s 2016 Survey of the Performance of American Elections (SPAE) found that in California approximately 51 percent of nonvoters across the country claimed that the lack of transportation to the polls was a factor for not voting.
