Pasadena Dance Theatre Performs at El Capitan for ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ Opening Weekend
Pasadena Dance Theatre, led by Artistic Director Cynthia Young, will perform a short excerpt from the company’s celebrated production of “The Nutcracker” on Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. at the El Capitan Theatre stage as part of the opening weekend festivities for the El Capitan’s special engagement of Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.” Tickets for the film are now on sale at elcapitantickets.com, by calling 1(800) DISNEY6 and at The El Capitan Theatre box office.
Pasadena Dance Theatre is one of 18 dance companies/schools from throughout Southern California that will perform. Each dance troupe will perform their interpretation of “The Nutcracker” ranging from ballet, to modern dance, jazz, hip-hop, samba, Bollywood, and cultural dances. These companies will each showcase their min-performances prior to the film at select show times between Nov. 2 and 18.
As guests enter the theatre, audience members can take selfies with a life-sized onstage music box while the El Capitan’s music maestro spins tunes themed to each of the four realms. Later, as the lights go down, the music box magically comes to life before your eyes.
Ed Collins, general manager of The El Capitan Theatre, shared “Also, before and after every showing of ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,’ guests can explore an exclusive costume exhibit in the lower lounge of The El Capitan Theatre featuring costumes from the production and much more.”
El Capitan Guests can even be the first to see the movie by attending the special opening night event on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. At that performance, the Los Angeles Ballet, headed by its artistic directors Thordal Christensen and Colleen Neary, will perform a short excerpt from the company’s celebrated production of “The Nutcracker” on the El Capitan Theatre stage. Tickets to the special opening night fan event are $45 each and include a reserved seat, popcorn, a 20-ounce bottled drink, fairy floss, tote bag, and an exclusive poster.
