If you were to be diagnosed with a terminal disease today would you know where to go to find accurate, trustworthy information to learn more about your disease? What if your disease was accompanied by a stigma that society simply can learn to bypass? There are many organizations dedicated to informing, educating and providing valuable resources to people and their families who may need them. The Poz Life Weekend Seminar will be happening on Nov. 3 and 4 in the City of Pasadena. This is a free workshop event for people with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones, brought to you by The Life Group LA in collaboration with Wesley Health Center and sponsored in part by Jannsen. Events like these are life changing and impact communities in a “POZitive” way.

The weekend seminar will have several speakers including Dr. Eric Darr MD, Chief of HIV Medicine at Harbor-UCLA. There will be several discussions focusing on the primary need for information based on the number of participants enrolled. The diverse group of speakers, staff and volunteers will be prepared to contact individuals with specific concerns or issues that may be affecting anyone attending the event. There will be no exclusions during this event based on race, gender or if you are HIV/ AIDS positive or negative. The seminar is designed to welcome all who are affected by the disease and let everyone feel safe and free to be themselves. It is also designed to provide resources and education to those who are on a journey to help those affected by this illness. Coming together in a positive environment and helping one another, creates compassionate human interaction with people who can relate to each other’s similar situation. After all isn’t that what a healthy community is all about?

It is community events like this one that create a safe and healthy atmosphere to help someone overcome fears, have important questions answered and allow oneself to become vulnerable around people who may be facing similar challenges. If you are affected or infected with HIV/AIDS and would like to attend a safe and confidential environment where you can learn more about this disease, please register and reserve your spot at  thelifegroupla.org/ rez1.html or call (888) 208-8081. There will be limited space so make sure to register today and snacks, beverages, and lunch will be provided.
