Pasadena Program Offer Meals and Hope to the Homeless
Pasadena Share A Meal asks public for donations
By Hansol Hwang
The Pasadena Share A Meal program is holding its 7th annual Thanksgiving Share A Meal event Nov. 22 and they are looking to receive donations for the selected recipients of the event, who are transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency and vice-a-versa, according to Pasadena Share A Meal.
These recipients have been identified by the Families in Transition Office of the Pasadena Unified School District and at the event the invited attendees will be able to participate in various activities, eat a homemade meal and receive donation items that correspond to each of these families’ unique needs as identified by the Families in Transition office.
Activities will include arts and crafts, a photo booth and a professionally taken family portrait. Additionally, each family will receive a Blessing Bag filled with goods, services and certificates from donations.
All this is made possible by The Pasadena Sandwich Company (PSC), the Stephen E. Fink Memorial Fund, the PUSD, the Pasadena Fire Department (PFD), Sydney Paige Inc. and Remainders Creative Reuse who have been able to provide a safe and supportive place for families to sit down in a restaurant-style environment where they can enjoy their Thanksgiving meal as a family.
Pasadena Share A Meal is currently accepting donations which include, but are not limited to monetary, food (turkeys, pies, beverages, etc.), paper goods (plates, napkins etc.), gift certificates and more.
