Sold Out Taste of Monrovia 2018 Draws Thousands to Myrtle

By Terry MillerIt was a balmy night and perfect weather to enjoy some of Monrovia’s finest ales and cuisine.

On Sunday, local merchants and restaurants participated in a festival of food, music and spirits. This event took place on Myrtle Avenue and showcased mostly local culinary arts and beverages, with the exception of a few chains like the popular Benihana Japanese eatery.

There was live country music, a complimentary souvenir photo booth courtesy of the ever talented Photoworks by Rick, and more food than you could possibly eat in one sitting. The annual event is a fundraiser of the Kiwanis and all of the great things they do to assist youth programs in the community. One-hundred percent of the profits directly benefit local youth programs.

One of the more noticeable differences this year was the significant increase in the number of craft beer makers and distilleries; proving, once and for all, that prohibition is very dead in Monrovia despite the wishes of the founding fathers of the city.
