They will collaborate for “Detroit ’67” and “The Receptionist”

The Pasadena Playhouse continues their exciting partnership with the USC School of Dramatic Arts this fall by presenting two productions for the School’s MFA in acting program at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre: “Detroit ’67” by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Gregg T. Daniel Nov. 8-10, and “The Receptionist” by Adam Bock, directed by Andi Chapman Nov. 15-17.

“Continuing the Playhouse’s legacy and commitment to theater learning, we’re pleased to welcome the USC School of Dramatic Arts into our theater this fall with two exciting new productions,” said Danny Feldman, producing artistic director. “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the USC School of Dramatic Arts and their extraordinary students, all while giving our members and community even more theater to enjoy.”

“This is a wonderful step in the continued relationship between the USC School of Dramatic Arts and the Playhouse,” said David Bridel, dean of dramatic arts and holder of the Braverman Family Dean’s Chair. “Our students will engage with one of the city’s most prestigious theaters, while the Playhouse continues to reconnect with its own history as a leading educative facility in the art of the theatre. I’m particularly excited to work with Danny Feldman, whose vision of the Playhouse corresponds so closely with my own vision of the School of Dramatic Arts – building community, achieving excellence, and connecting practice with professionalism.”

The partnership is a continuation of the theatre’s 100-year commitment to cultivating artists and provides the students the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships at a working professional theatre.

Detroit ’67 plays Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30p.m., and Saturday Nov. 10 at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Receptionist plays Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30p.m. and Saturday Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. All tickets are $20, with $10 tickets available for USC students, faculty and staff, as well as Playhouse members.
