The Monrovia Fire Department participated in Fire Prevention Week and held an open house on Saturday. The main theme for the week – “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” – emphasized three basic steps to reduce the likelihood of having a fire and how to escape safely in the event of one.
As part of the campaign, Monrovia firefighters also visited all Monrovia Unified School District fourth grade classrooms during the week to educate students on how to identify potential fire hazards, recognize emergency alarms, and ensure that escape routes are easily accessible and free of clutter.
During the open house, Monrovia Fire & Rescue hosted a Junior Firefighter Challenge, which is a course designed for kids to simulate firefighter drills. In addition, firefighters performed an auto extrication demonstration.
