A New Officer Is Ready to Protect and Serve Arcadia

Officer Sergio Machado was honored last week during a ceremonial badge pinning after successfully completing his 18-month probationary period. Although an officer is field ready and sent to a patrol team on their own after training, completing probation is a milestone in their career.

Officer Machado graduated from the LASD Academy Class #419 as the Honor Cadet in March 2017. Prior to coming to Arcadia Police Department, Sergio served as a U.S. Army Ranger from 1997 – 2008, had been promoted in the army to staff sergeant, served three tours in Iraq, twice as a sniper team leader, and was awarded both the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal for Valor.
