Arcadia Crime Blotters: Sept. 9 – Sept. 15
Sept.9
At approximately 12:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the pharmacy inside Vons, 745 W. Naomi Ave., regarding a theft that had just occurred. An unknown male adult jumped over the counter and stole four bottles of Promethazine Codeine and fled the scene through the emergency exit. The investigation is ongoing.
Just after 3 p.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of West Fairview Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. An unknown suspect entered the vehicle that was parked along the roadway by unknown means and stole several pieces of property that were inside. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
Sept. 10
At around 3 a.m., officers responded to the parking structure of 24 Hour Fitness, 125 N. First Ave., regarding a GPS tracker notification. Arcadia PD detectives had previously deployed a decoy vehicle with property containing a tracking device to combat the increase in vehicle burglaries around the city. An investigation revealed the suspects smashed the windows to the vehicle and fled the scene with the stolen property. Officers located the suspects in their vehicle with the stolen property. The 27-year-old male and 28-year-old female, both from El Monte, were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 3 p.m., officers patrolling the parking lot of Extended Stay America Hotel, 401 E. Santa Clara St., received a hit on a stolen vehicle. Officers contacted the driver, a 34-year-old female from Monrovia and her juvenile son. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A social worker with the Department of Child and Family Services assisted and the child was ultimately released to a relative.
Sept. 11
Just after 11 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Huntington Drive and Golden West Avenue for having expired registration. The license plate falsely displayed a current year tab. The officer contacted the driver and an investigation revealed he was in possession of cocaine. The 62-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding a burglary report. The unknown suspect(s) cut the lock to the victim’s garage, made entry and stole several Makita hand tools. The investigation is ongoing.
Sept. 12
Just before 11 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed the unknown suspect(s) removed the screen to an open master bedroom window while the residents were in the living room. The suspect(s) made entry, stole approximately $1,000 in cash and fled the scene through a back door without being detected.
Just after 10 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Starbucks, 5 W. Live Oak Ave., regarding multiple reports of a drunk driver. The officer located the suspect vehicle, which was still running, illegally parked in a handicapped parking stall. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 61-year-old male from Temple City was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Sept. 13
At approximately 4:30 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Christine Lane regarding a burglary. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) entered the home by kicking in and removing the pedestrian door of the garage. The suspect(s) entered the home, stole jewelry and fled the scene undetected. The investigation is ongoing.
Just after 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residential complex in the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue regarding the report of a battery. An investigation revealed an argument occurred between two residents. A male adult struck another male adult in his face with his fist, causing his tooth to be knocked out and lacerations to his mouth. The 29-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Sept. 14
Just after 10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Santa Cruz Road regarding the report of a reported stolen vehicle in the area. Officers located the vehicle and the driver. The driver was found to be in possession of a BB gun, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 45-year-old male from Rialto was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
At about 12:30 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Peck Road and Clark Street for having expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 40-year-old male from Azusa was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was left legally parked.
Sept. 15
Just before 6:30 p.m., officers responded to Burlington Coat Factory, 1201 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. While conducting an investigation, a suspicious subject ran from the officers after they attempted to speak with him. The suspect was ultimately detained and it was discovered that he was in possession of burglary tools, a stun gun, methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. The 45-year-old male from Stevensville, Montana was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Just before 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of West Duarte Road regarding a burglary that had just occurred. A male suspect pried open a rear sliding glass door and ransacked the residence. The resident arrived home while the suspect was still inside. The suspect fled through the rear sliding door dropping the victim’s property in the back yard before jumping over a fence and fleeing the scene. All stolen property was recovered except for $300 in cash.
