“The San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Yang as Ambassador to the City of Arcadia,” said Veronica Garcia Davalos, executive director of the SGPV Chapter. “As such, she will act as liaison between the city and Red Cross, helping to better enable disaster preparedness and prevention, provision of health and safety education, services to members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families, and the collection and distribution of vital blood and blood products.”

“Lisa has a long and exemplary history as a volunteer within the community and with the Red Cross,” added Gene Jeffers, SGPV Chapter board chairman. “She has a deep understanding of the organization, our people, and our services to communities. Not to mention an amazing range of skills and experiences working for the betterment of local and state communities. We deeply appreciate her willingness to step up and assume this most important of roles.”

Yang also serves as Red Cross ambassador to Monterey Park, ambassador for the Clinton Foundation, arts and culture commissioner of City of Monterey Park, president of International Dynasty Lions Club, president of Soroptimist International of Monterey Park/Rosemead. She is a founding member and president of AARP Chinatown Chapter, and of the Northern American Chinese Writers of Southern California.

Yang is the recipient of Congresswoman Judy Chu’s 2015 Woman of Distinction Award and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health and California Wellness Foundation’s 2014 Senior Leadership Award. She is owner of Lisa’s Investment Real Estate Brokerage and Development firm, a producer and host of radio and television programs in Taiwan and the U.S., president of communications for USA Group, and a consultant for the Doheny Eye Institute.

Born in China, Yang grew up in Taiwan. She graduated from National Taiwan University of Arts, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 to work at JPL/CALTECH.
