In the wake of being ranked No. 2 in CIF’s Division I poll, the Arcadia girls’ tennis team continued its reign of dominance as it defeated Burroughs 16-2 on Tuesday.
This Apaches have been nothing short of sensational this year, opening the season with a six-game winning streak that includes a 3-0 record in Pacific League action. Their masterful play has garnered much recognition as CIF has them ranked second in Division I only behind Campbell Hall but ahead of No. 3 Corona del Mar and No. 4 Palos Verdes.
“We’re ranked No. 2 in Division I for girls CIF and we’re very excited and I’m very proud of the girls for that but we’re still working very hard to get to No. 1,” said Arcadia Head Coach Ruth Lagace.
In Tuesday’s match against Burroughs, the Apaches continued to build their case for that elusive No. 1 spot. Christina Yao won all three of her sets while the doubles team of Michelle Deng and Jean Chen took all three of their sets.
Arcadia will return to the courts on Thursday and Friday as it heads out to Irvine to compete in the Beckman Tournament.
