Pasadena’s Kidspace Welcomes New Members to Board of Directors

This summer, Kidspace Children’s Museum proudly welcomed Dr. Tara Gomez-Hampton, Dawn Archuleta, and Kent Wu as members to its Board of Directors. “Our 2018-2019 class of board members represent crucial needs the museum has,” said Michael Shanklin, Kidspace CEO. “These include STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) education expertise, corporate human resources experience, and business entrepreneurial excellence that will collectively help us strategically navigate future growth.”

Dr. Tara Gomez-Hampton is a professional scientist at Biosense Webster, a Johnson & Johnson company, where she assesses safety for new product development. After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology, Dr. Gomez-Hampton attended the California Institute of Technology where she earned her doctorate in biology in 2011. She has spent time as a college lecturer of biology at the California State University East Bay and as a teacher of all-ages science workshops across Los Angeles.

Dawn Archuleta currently works at BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. as a regional employee relations manager where she oversees 56 locations and maintains fair and equitable standards to sustain the highest ethical practices. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Pepperdine University and a human resources certificate from University of California, Los Angeles. Archuleta is heavily involved within the community through several organizations: Pasadena Junior League, where she helped to build a playground; Camp Harmony, a camp for homeless children; and Girls Inc. of Orange County, where she guides young girls in the Youth Empowerment Self-Sufficiency (YESS) summer program in the principles of business.

Kent Wu is an e-commerce entrepreneur who, after spending a short time at AOL Time Warner, started his own company selling sporting goods in 2001. In 2015, he sold the business to his manufacturer for a vertical integration. In 2016, he launched his new company, Milk and Eggs, which delivers fresh groceries and competes against Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods. Wu is native to the Southern California area and attended Pepperdine University and the University of California, San Diego. He lives with his wife, May, and their children, Addison and Trenton.
