It was grueling and hard-fought contest to say the least, but Monrovia football came up short by a last-minute field goal during its 23-21 loss to Alta Loma last Friday.

The Wildcats were coming off a listless 45-12 defeat at the hands of Burbank in the opening game of the season but were hopeful to bounce back on the road against Alta Loma. For most of the game, it seemed new Head Coach Chris Williams had his team prime to bring home their first win of the season.

Unfortunately for Monrovia, Alta Loma had other plans in mind, squeezing in the game-deciding field goal to cap off a furious drive at the end of the game. The loss dropped Monrovia’s record to 0-2 while Alta Loma improves to 2-0.

The Wildcats will looks to get in the win column for the first time this season as they host Don Lugo on Friday to close out the preseason.
