Get Ready To Experience Sounds of Magic Brought to You By The New World String Project
By Alex Cordero
When musical artists collaborate to create something original it can become groundbreaking. As a fan you receive the harvest of what has been cultivating in an artist’s heart for years. All the hard work and dedication of a project may be recognized by applause, encores and standing ovations. This is what a true artist lives for. The New World String Project is an extraordinary collaboration of four talented musicians who have brought their mastery of their instruments to create a beautiful sound of Nordic, Celtic and American Folklore together on one stage. Their upcoming event on Aug. 25 at Caltech in the City of Pasadena is one of many concerts they will be performing on their current tour. The New World String Project is a must attend concert you cannot afford to miss.
The group consists of four talented musicians that form one amazing band. All bring their own style and together create a sound that will leave you breathless. The Celtic harp is played by Lisa Lynne. She has received world-wide recognition for her original compositions featuring this majestic string instrument and plays several other instruments such as the cittern , the drum box and several other acoustic instruments. Her husband Aryeh (pronounced R-E-A) Frankfurter has an intensive musical career as well and is a master at playing the nyckelharpa. This traditional Swedish instrument looks as beautiful as it sounds. The keyed fiddle pairs perfectly with the more traditional fiddle on stage played by John Weed. John Weed is a violinist who has honed his skill during a span of over twenty years. He now experiments between Irish, Scottish, and Swedish traditional sounds. Last but not least is Stuart Mason on guitar and vocals. Stuart Mason has performed all over the world. John Weed and Stuart Mason are members of the Celtic band Molly’s Revenge and tour together constantly. And just like John and Stuart, Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter form the perfect duo and perform together. These two duos have come together to form The New World String Project. All the instruments these artists have mastered sound amazing when played solo. However, when they become synchronized on one stage it is magical.
The New World String Project comes to the City of Pasadena this upcoming Saturday Aug. 25 at Caltech, 400 S. Wilson Ave. They will be performing at the Beckman Institute Auditorium at 8 p.m. General admission is $20. Students and children are $5. Reservations can be made by calling (626) 395-4652.
