Arcadia Blues Club Hosts ‘6 String Showdown’

This summer, the Long Beach Blues Society in conjunction with the New Blues Festival and Bobby Bluehouse’s Arcadia Blues Club is presenting the “6 String Showdown (6SS),” a head-to-head series of regional blues guitar competitions to crown Southern California’s best blues guitar player on the main stage of this year’s New Blues Festival at El Dorado Park in Long Beach on Sunday, Sept. 2.

Forty-two competitors kicked off the event and now the 6SS is down to twenty-two after Ewen Williams and Jesse Godoy emerged victorious from the OC Regionals at Campus Jax on July 21 in front of a sold out room.

The remaining twenty-two guitarists facing off at the Arcadia Blues Club on Aug. 4, will represent the San Gabriel Valley’s best in the 6SS semifinals, and include our own Jessica Kaczmarek, Michael Gion, Bobby Starfire, Andres Acuna, Seth Loveless, Kimberly Allison, Val Rael, Michael Voll, Anthony Cullins, John Nevolo, Edgard Paivia, Burton Zimmer, Eric Shen Randy Blair, Steven Taylor, Christopher James, Carl Holten, Brad Marsh, Teddy Lee Hooker, and more.

Four semi-finalists face off on the Golden Groove Stage at New Blues Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1. Two finalists go head-to-head on the New Blues Festival main stage, Sunday, Sept. 2. More information is available at 6stringshowdown.com.
